In 2010 Kate Beauchene left her career in public radio and thriving business coaching swimming in Los Angeles to become a psychotherapist. Kate holds a Master of Arts in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University and is also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado. Kate’s early therapeutic work was in community mental health, providing equine assisted psychotherapy to a diverse array of populations. Following that, Kate completed her master’s level internship in the partial hospitalization program at SCL Health and was subsequently hired on full-time. While at SCL Health, Kate worked with hundreds of patients as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team and became familiar with a variety of high-acuity presentations. In SCL Health’s somatically oriented, DBT-based partial hospitalization program Kate created curriculum, facilitated groups, provided individual counseling and case management, and also worked with patients’ families. Kate was promoted to interim Program Coordinator before leaving the position to move back to California in 2016. Since returning to Los Angeles, Kate has deepened into clinical work through her previous role providing psychiatric rehabilitation and family support at Life Adjustment Team; her current Clinical Psychology PhD program at Pacifica Graduate Institute; and her advanced clinical training at Valley Community Counseling Clinic, which provides low-fee psychoanalytically oriented therapy in North Hollywood. Kate is excited to join the team of talented individuals at Hart Consultants and continue learning and growing alongside them.
